BMW Issues Recall For 2012 3-Series Due To Faulty Head Restraints

With Ferrari recently issuing separate recalls for both the 458 Italia and California, we are saddened to bring you more news about another well-known firm issuing recalls on one of its newest models, and it’s none other than the folks over at BMW.
In a press release issued on April 19, 2012, BMW outlines that 7,600 units of the 2012 3-seriesare being recalled as “they have front seat head restraints that exceed the downward movement limit of 25mm in the highest position” outlined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Fortunately, this recall will only impact North American vehicles rather than cars being impacted across the globe.
Cars affected were produced between October 18, 2011 and March 18, 2012 and BMW will notify all owners who have cars produced in that time period, and of course all repairs will be conducted free of charge.
BMW only discovered this fault in late April while the 2012 3-series has been in production for well over 6 months and the German brand could have saved itself a lot of trouble by thoroughly checking over all prototypes before entering any world markets.
Nevertheless, recalls seem to be a part of the automotive industry and they just go to show how restrictions vary from country to country and they also show just how difficult it is to enter a variety of markets, something Pagani knows all too well.

New Shelby Supercharger Kit Adds 300 HP To Your 2007-2012 GT500

The 2007 Shelby GT500 came out with a whopping total of 500 HP, before the power output jumped up to 540 HP in the 2010 model year. Both sets of numbers are rather significant, but with the 2013 Shelby GT500 pushing 650 HP upon its arrival, customers who own a 2007-2012GT500 may feel as though they are at a disadvantage. Well, worry no more.
Shelby Performance Parts has announced a new supercharger kit for the 5.4-liter V8 engine that can add an impressive 300 HP to the GT500. This means, the total output can be increased to an amazing 840 HP!
The new kit will replace the stock roots-type supercharger and will add a new Competition Heat Exchanger and Shelby GT500 Competition Intercooler Tank to improve cooling performance. The new Competition Heat Exchanger will keep the intake charge cool, while the Competition Intercooler Tank can be filled with ice or dry ice to further reduce intake temperatures.
The bad part to all of this is that there are no pricing details associated with the package as of yet. We’re thinking an upgrade package of this caliber will run customers somewhere in the $5-6K area.

Spy Shots: BMW 4-Series Convertible Caught Testing With The Top Down

Starting in the 2013 model year, BMW will stop offering a 3-Series Coupe and Convertible. Instead the new models will wear the 4-Series moniker, while the 3-Series name will only be kept for the sedan and station wagon. BMW is currently under intense testing of the future 4-Series Convertible and in the past few months, we have brought out plenty of spy shots. And the spy shots keep coming. This series of spy shots capture the future 4-Series Convertible with its top down so we can have a better look at the interior.
The 4-Series Convertible will be placed under the 6-Series Convertible in terms of price, but it will combine design elements from the 5-Series and 6-Series, as well as carry the now famous BMW wide kidney grille. Under the hood, the new model will feature the latest four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel units found in the BMW lineup, including the new 245 HP 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine.

Expect to see the new BMW 4-Series Convertible launched in 2013.
